Manlock maintenance for TBM
Extending equipment lifetime through inspection, maintenance and upgrades
Manlocks installed on tunnel boring machines are often used for many years under demanding conditions. Regular maintenance and technical inspections are essential to ensure that the equipment remains safe, reliable and fit for continued operation.
Hytech-Pommec carries out maintenance and upgrade work on an existing manlock, focusing on its technical condition, safety-critical components and long-term performance.
Maintenance and technical upgrades
The scope of work for this manlock includes several inspection, maintenance and upgrade activities:
- Technical inspection of the manlock and assessment of its overall condition.
- 10-yearly maintenance, following a comprehensive maintenance plan.
- Calibration of depth and caisson pressure gauges to support accurate pressure monitoring.
- Installation of an additional door in accordance with EN 12010.
- Inspection and replacement of seals, rubbers and other components where required.
- Overpressure testing, witnessed by a classification society.
These activities help identify wear, verify the condition of critical components and support the safe operation of the equipment.
Keeping existing equipment safe and reliable
Maintaining hyperbaric equipment involves more than repairing faults. Regular inspections, preventive maintenance and timely replacement of safety-critical components can help extend the service life of existing installations and reduce the risk of unexpected downtime.
Hytech-Pommec supports customers with maintenance, technical inspections, refurbishment and upgrades of existing hyperbaric equipment, including manlocks used in tunnelling applications.
Reliable equipment starts with proper maintenance.
