Life Support BA Box + Equipment Dynamic Communication

The Hytech-Pommec Life Support BA Box is a complete breathing air control and distribution system for inert entry applications. The system combines air supply control, breathing air distribution, monitoring, communication and supporting emergency equipment in a transportable setup. The main control unit is installed in an ABS transport case that separates into two sections: the A-Panel and B-Panel.

A-Panel air supply control

The A-Panel allows the operator to monitor supply pressures and select between LP and HP air sources. Under normal conditions, the system can operate from the LP supply. If the LP supply fails, the HP supplies automatically take over. Two high-flow regulators reduce HP air to approximately 15 bar, while an inline regulator reduces LP air to approximately 10 bar.

The panel includes multiple pressure gauges, emergency shut-off valves, HP and LP connection points and a built-in high-pressure alarm. If either HP supply to the regulators drops below 30 bar, the system activates a 120 dB acoustic alarm.

B-Panel breathing air distribution

The B-Panel receives air from the A-Panel and distributes it to a maximum of four breathing masks or helmets. Each worker connects through an umbilical with a double breathing air hose and communication cable. Individual flow meters and shut-off valves allow the operator to monitor and control each worker’s air supply.

The system uses double air connections for each worker, providing two supply lines throughout the breathing air system. A crossover valve links supply line 1 and 2, while isolation valves allow the individual lines to be controlled. The B-Panel also includes an acoustic alarm that activates if system pressure falls below 5 bar.

Monitoring, communication and life support lines

An inline monitoring panel can measure the O₂ percentage in two airline supplies and provides both high and low alarms. The monitoring equipment is installed in a stainless steel case.

Life support umbilicals connect the B-Panel to the workers’ breathing masks or helmets. The specified 25 m and 50 m versions each contain two 1/4″ breathing air lines and one four-wire communication cable, twisted together into one umbilical assembly. Other lengths are available on request.

The Life Support Communicator 2006F provides communication with up to six persons or rooms. It includes six microphone/speaker connections, a built-in speaker, a tender headset connection and a built-in 7 Ah battery for up to 20 hours of operation.
